At M.R. Dawson Upholstery Ltd, we provide upholstery services from our Cheshire workshop and every dog sofa purchased is handcrafted to order. We take great pride in our workmanship, materials and service. This policy explains your rights and our responsibilities under UK consumer law for both made-to-order goods and upholstery services.


1. Made‑to‑Order Dog Sofas & Upholstery Services

All of our dog sofas are made to order, including your choice of size, fabric, cushion type and cover style. We also provide upholstery services for customer-owned furniture, which may include fabric selection, foam replacement, repairs, re-covering and other bespoke work agreed with you before we begin.


Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, made‑to‑order or personalised goods are generally exempt from the standard 14‑day change‑of‑mind return period. For upholstery services booked at a distance, cancellation rights may differ depending on whether work has started and whether the service is bespoke or has been fully performed with your agreement.

This means we cannot usually accept returns or offer refunds if you simply change your mind after ordering a made‑to‑order dog sofa, or after bespoke upholstery work has been approved and started, except where required by law.


2. Faulty Goods or Unsatisfactory Upholstery Work

You are protected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for both goods and services.

If your dog sofa arrives faulty, damaged, or not as described, or if our upholstery services are not carried out with reasonable care and skill, you may be entitled to an appropriate remedy, which could include:

· A free repair or corrective work

· A replacement where appropriate

· A price reduction or refund if the issue cannot be resolved

Please report any issues within 30 days of delivery or completion, including photos where possible, via email: mrd.upholstery@outlook.comWe will assess the issue promptly and, where applicable, arrange collection, repair, rework or another suitable remedy at no cost to you.


3. Cancellations

Because each dog sofa is made to order and many upholstery jobs are bespoke:

· Orders or bookings may be cancelled within 48 hours of confirmation for a full refund, unless materials have been specially ordered or work has started with your agreement.

· After 48 hours, materials may have been purchased, collection may have been arranged, or work may have begun. In this case, cancellations may incur a reasonable deduction to cover costs already incurred and work already carried out, in line with your legal rights.


We will always be transparent and fair about this.


4. Replacement Covers & Accessories

Replacement covers and accessories that are not made to order can be returned within 14 days of delivery if unused and in their original condition. This does not apply to bespoke dog sofa orders or custom upholstery work carried out to your specification, unless the item or service is faulty or not as described.

Customers are responsible for return postage unless the item is faulty.


5. Condition of Returned Items

If a return or collection is agreed (for example, because of a fault or to inspect an issue):

  • Items must be returned in reasonable condition
  • We will arrange collection
  • Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the item back
